Australian Food Festival opens in Macao

MACAO.  May 11. KAZINFORM  The Australian Food Festival, supported by the Australian Trade Commission and the state offices of South Australia and Queensland, opened in Macao Friday morning, local media reported.

More than 300 premium food products from Australia, including dairy products, fruit juices, condiments, olive oils, confectioneries and snacks, are available during the festival from May 11 to 24. Many of them are new to Macao, Kazinform has learned form  Xinhua.

Paul Tighe, Australia's Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macao, said the Australian food and beverage industry is recognized worldwide for its freshness, variety, high quality, healthy image and innovation.

"In particular, food quality and safety are important issues for Macao consumers," said Tighe. "Australia's clean, healthy environment and stringent regulatory requirements give consumers confidence in our produce," he added.

The Australian Food Festival is also concurrently held at 60 supermarkets across Hong Kong.
