Austria, Kazakhstan to develop coop in tourism

ASTANA. May 17. KAZINFORM Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Austria Kairat Abdrakhmanov paid a visit to the federal state of Salzburg, press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reports.

During his trip Ambassador Abdrakhmanov met with Salzburg Governor Gabi Burgstaller, vice president of the Salzburg Economic Chamber Peter Genser and heads of the leading industrial, transport and tourist companies.

Ms Burgstaller noted that Salzburg business circles were interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan and ready to share their rich experience in high technologies, software, telecommunications, renewable energy resources, food industry, tourism, etc. Kazakhstan is of particular interest to Austria as an energy supplier. (35 per cent of Austria's oil come from Kazakhstan).

The sides touched upon the opportunities for commercial and economic cooperation between separate regions of Kazakhstan and federal states of Austria.

Kazakhstan and Austria are also keen to promote cultural collaboration. Especially in terms of Salzburg Festival held annually in July-August under the supervision of Ms Burgstaller.

Special attention was paid to cooperation between Kazakhstan and Austria in tourism. The sides discussed possible training for Kazakhstani tourist staff at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management. This issue will be tabled in more details at the upcoming session of the Kazakh-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission for commercial and economic cooperation in Astana this autumn.
