AYAZ BI ZHAMANULY (XII-XIII centuries) – a Kazakh sage well known since ancient times, orator, judge, whose name became a legend. There are various data about his biography.
According to Shapyrashti Kazybek Tauassaruly, Ayaz Bi and his companion Kumyrska batyr ?lived in the epoch of Maiky as trusted judges, and used to sit on the right from Maiky Manuly». These data say Ayaz was born in 711 anno Hegirae, and died in 800.
Researcher Baltabay Adambayuly states in his book ?Altyn Sandyk?, that Ayaz Bi was a historical figure who lived in the Khanate of Khiva in XI-XII. However, this question requires in-depth study.
«It was his mind and wisdom which turned Ayaz, a poor shepherd into a vizier. Ayaz stood several trials of Khan Madan who afterwards acknowledged his wisdom, devotion to friendship, commitment to an oath, justness and kindness. Ayaz married Mendi, a beautiful daughter of bai. Later on he was elected Khan by the people?s will», describes Kazakh Encyclopedia.
