Azerbaijan Airlines suspends flights to some Russian cities
Azerbaijan Airlines announced suspension of flights to some cities of Russia, AzerTAC reported.
Following preliminary findings from the investigation into the crash of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flight J2-8243, an Embraer 190 aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny route, which point to physical and technical external interference, and in light of potential risks to flight safety, flights from Baku to Mineralnye Vody, Sochi, Volgograd, Ufa, and Samara are suspended from December 28, 2024, by decision of the Azerbaijan State Civil Aviation Agency.
Previously, on December 25, AZAL suspended flights from Baku to Grozny and Makhachkala.
For safety reasons, flights to these destinations, including Grozny and Makhachkala, have also been halted by other airlines.
As reported, 38 died and 29 survived as Baku-Grozny flight J2-8243 operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25.
