Azerbaijan releases about 6 million young sturgeon into sea

BAKU. August 20. KAZINFORM. Azerbaijan's fish factories released 5.8 million young sturgeon into the sea in the first half of 2009, Azerbaijan State Statistics Committee said; Kazinform refers to Today.Az.

"In the first half of the year, 341.5 million young fish species, including 5.8 million young sturgeon, 44,000 of salmon, 330 million ordinary fish and 5.6 million young fish that feed on plants were released to water basins and reservoirs in Azerbaijan," the committee said.

Azerbaijan's fish production totalled 87,400 manat, a rise of 16.2 percent from January-June 2008; Kazinform cites Today.Az.
