Azerbaijan to host F1 grand prix as Ecclestone clinches deal

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Formula 1 president and CEO Bernie Ecclestone signed a deal to host F1 grand prix in Azerbaijan, Utro.ru says. Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, may host a Formula One grand prix in 2015 or 2016.

"We are going to Azerbaijan," Ecclestone said. "The people out there are talking about holding a race in 2015. That may be a bit soon - unless it's at the end of the season. But 2016 is more likely." Along with Azerbaijan, Thailand, the Republic of South Africa, Greece, Argentina and Mexico are being eyed as the host nations of F1 grand prix races.
