ASTANA. KAZINFORM - First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Sagintayev held a series of bilateral meetings within 8th Astana Economic Forum, the press service of the Kazakh Prime Minister informs.

At a meeting with the former Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme Yves Leterme suggested methods for attracting foreign investments into the national economy. He told about the work and standards of the OECD in terms of local markets development. Norwegian economist, Nobel Laureate in Economics 2004 Finn Erling Kydland, one of the founders of the theory of real business cycles, noted the significance of inflation targeting to repress negative effects of external shocks. In addition, he gave advice on the most optimal combination of fiscal and monetary policy. First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and chief scientific officer of global relations at Yale University Domingo Cavallo have discussed the measures to reduce inflation including by controlling the money supply, as well as the issues of currency regulation.
