BAIGOZY NAIMANTAIULY (1705-1803) is a hero and a fighter for freedom and independence of the nation. He descended from Taraqty clan, Argyn tribe of Middle Juz.
Baigozy was born in Koktinkol village of Shet district of Karaganda oblast. His father Naimantay was one of the first batyrs (knights) of Tauke Khan. The father and the son earned fame in the course of liberation struggle during Dzungars? invasion. Baigozy participated in battles near Karasire, Anyrakay, Kyzyltau, Ereimentau, Turkestan and Karkaraly. He was one of those commanders whom Abylay-Khan relied on. The place where the batyr had been buried was named ?Batyr basy? (on the territory of Agadyr district of Karaganda oblast). In 2005 the region citizens marked the 300th anniversary of the legendary batyr. Famous Agybay batyr was his grandson and kuyshi-composer Ykylas ? his great grandson.
