According to Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu all three countries have been trying to implement BTK project, which aims to connect Azerbaijan and Georgia with Europe, as soon as possible.

BTK includes the construction of Kars-Akhalkalaki railway 98 kilometers long, 68 km of which will pass through Turkey and 30 km through the territory of Georgia.

This year via the new railway line, which has direct access to the European railway network, it is planned to transport up to 30 million tons of cargo. This will increase the flow of goods, in particular, container, bulk and other types of cargo from Asia to Europe.
