The Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Elmar Buribayev will create an entire spectrum of moods from romantic to humorous.

Airy and weightless, Fokine’s one-act ballet Chopiniana, staged to Chopin’s music, will open the ballet evening on October 26.

The Astana Opera Ballet Company’s artistic director, People’s Artist of Russia Altynai Asylmuratova emphasizes that dancers grow onstage. Therefore, according to the established tradition, all the conditions for young dancers to try their hand at the main roles have been established at the opera house. This means, along with performances by principal dancers, viewers will have an opportunity to see young, promising dancers.

Shugyla Adepkhan, Daniyar Zhumatayev, Kamila Shakhmanova (debut), Alina Zyryanova (debut) will convey unearthly, whimsical atmosphere.

In the second part, viewers will have an opportunity to see original ballets from the Black and White Series by the world-famous Czech choreographer Jiří Kylián. The Maestro is often called “Picasso of dance”, and world’s leading ballet companies are vying to stage his productions.

The author’s works are filled with deep meaning and are recognizable for their own unique style. Petite Mort is a complex and controversial ballet described by critics as “love lyricism of the highest standard”.

The difficult task of “living out all manifestations of love” faces the Honored Workers of Kazakhstan Madina Unerbayeva, Aigerim Beketayeva, as well as Serik Nakyspekov, Anastasia Zaklinskaya, Daniyar Zhumatayev, Sultanbek Gumar (debut), Gulnaz Zhanayeva, Zhaksylyk Saukymbekov (debut), Sofiya Adilkhanova, Galymzhan Nurmukhamet, Zhanibek Akhmediyev, Yerkezhan Zhunussova.

Kylián’s ballet Sechs Tänze has a completely different mood. Full of comedy and humor, the production seems simple to perform, but in fact it is technically complex, requiring precise adherence to rhythm, synchronicity and uniformity of movements.

Olzhas Tarlanov, Nima Tokov (debut), Moldir Shakimova, Adelina Tulepova, Madina Kuzhamzharova, Aibar Toktar, Bakhytgul Ispanova, Alexander Kornilov will demonstrate all facets of their art.

The final autumn ballet evening at the Astana Opera awaits residents and guests of the capital on October 29. The first part will feature numbers from the opera house’s best ballet productions. Among them is pas de deux from Løvenskiold’s La Sylphide, which became the main premiere of the fall, performed by S. Adilkhanova and D. Zhumatayev. There will be a premiere of the Gypsy Dance from the ballet Don Quixote, choreography by Kasyan Goleizovsky to the music by Valery Zhelobinsky, presented by Gaziza Moldakhmet. The program will also include pas de deux from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake (A. Beketayeva and D. Kurmangazy, this will be the latter’s debut), Drigo’s Le Talisman (Sh. Adepkhan, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Y. Rakhmatullayev), duet from Raimondo Rebek’s ballet How Long Is Now? to M. Richter’s music (A. Zaklinskaya, O. Tarlanov) and Roland Petit’s Thaïs (M. Unerbayeva, A. Urazov). In the second part, the viewers will see Fokine’s colorful one-act choreographic drama Schéhérazade to Rimsky-Korsakov’s music, inspired by Eastern tales from One Thousand and One Nights. The Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Anel Rustemova and Serik Nakyspekov will perform the main parts.
