Batyrkhan Shukenov - first Kazakhstani Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF

ALMATY.  November 20. KAZINFORM /Serik Koibagarov/ The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and famous Kazakh singer Batyrkhan Shukenov have signed an agreement on his nomination as a Goodwill Ambassador of the UNICEF in Almaty today.

According to representative of the UNICEF Hanaya Singer the agreement is dedicated to the 20^th anniversary of the UN Convention on Children's Rights. She noted that B. Shukenov did a lot both for Kazakhstani and CA children. She expressed confidence that well known Kazakh singer would make a great contribution to promotion of the UNICEF idea - creation of worthy conditions for children's life.

In turn, B. Shukenov told about his charity activity which he has performed for many years. Shukenov called his nomination as a new page in his life. "This imposes great responsibility on me", he said.

At present there are about 200 goodwill ambassadors of the UNICEF around the world. Among them are such famous persons as Robbie Williams, Jackie Chan, David Beckham, Anatoly Karpov and others.
