Beijing unveils monument to Kazakh poet Abai

BEIJING. KAZINFORM A ceremony of unveiling the monument to Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev took place in Beijing as part of the Kazakh Foreign Minister's visit to China.

Erlan Idrisosv thanked the Kazakh Embassy that initiated the idea of opening the monument to the great Kazakh poet in the capital of China and the sculptor. "For the 22 years of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China the unveiling of the Abai monument is a great contribution to the development of bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation," the Kazakh FM said. The ceremony was attended by reps of the diplomatic corps, accredited in China, Kazakh Diaspora and Chinese artists and poets, our correspondent reports.
