Beijing welcomed reception dated to 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence
Charge d'Affaires of Kazakhstan to China Kazbek Sarsembekov delivering a welcome address highlighted that for the past 20 years Kazakhstan passed a complicated path to become a country which holds today its place in the international arena, develops open economy, maintains domestic stability and enjoys mature political system.
Back to 1994 Kazakhstan voluntarily abandoned its nuclear arsenal. Kazakhstan initiated numerous international and regional forums. In 2010 as the OSCE chair country Kazakhstan held the OSCE summit in Astana. Last year Kazakhstan assumed the SCO chairmanship as well and organized SCO commemorative summit in the capital city of Kazakhstan. In 2011 the country assumed OIC presidency.
This year the country celebrates the 20th anniversary of its independence and 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China. China was one of the first to recognize Kazakhstan's independence. Over 20 years the sales between our nations grew from USD 100 mln to 20 bln. It means our bilateral ties witness rampant development, the ambassador said.
On behalf of the Chinese Government Liu Zhenmin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech. Over the period of 20 years the wise people of Kazakhstan under the leadership of President Nursultan Nazarbayev achieved splendid results in building up the state and embarked on the way of development meeting all realias of the country. We observe political stability, rampant economic development, social consent and peace in modern Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan plays an increasingly important role in international and regional affairs, he said. The Chinese side is confident that Kazakh people will achieve even greater results in the national building and revival.
