Belarus and Kazakhstan have many areas of common interest: Dauren Diyarov

MINSK. December 12. KAZINFORM Belarus and Kazakhstan have many areas of common interest for strengthening their cooperation, Chairman of the Board of the Kazinform news agency Dauren Diyarov told media at the Forum of European and Asian Media 2012 in Minsk on 10 December.

In his words, Belarus and Kazakhstan are able to find areas of common interest in any sphere. Today up to 10 big companies of Belarus make their presence at the Kazakhstani market. Among them are MAZ, Atlant and Horizont. Companies from Kazakhstan also hold a strong footing on the market of Belarus.

Dauren Diyarov is sure to take his chance during the Forum of European and Asian Media in Minsk to study the opinion of the Belarusian community on the Eurasian integration. "The forum is a platform which enables media representatives to compare notes, exchange experience and learn from each other," Dauren Diyarov said.

The seventh annual Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM) titled Integration Processes in the Post-Soviet Space and New Media opened in Minsk on 10 December. Partaking in the event are more than 200 heads of the leading media outlets from the CIS, Baltic states and Georgia. Eurasian integration is the FEAM 2012 major theme. The two-day event will include debates among journalists, political figures, parliamentarians and media experts of the prospects of integration projects, cooperation between mass media and the society as well as the structure and performance features of new media in the post-Soviet space, Kazinform has learnt from BelTA.

The FEAM 2012 program will embrace plenary meetings and discussion sessions on the Role of Media in Integration Processes, Instable World. Globalization and Media Space, New Life of Traditional Media, Cultural and Historical Codes and Modern Media Formats, Socialization Challenges for Social Network Users.

Participants of the forum will partake in the Wall against Wall debates on the issue, The Internet: Unlimited Information and the Limits of Freedom.

A photo exhibition, Post-Soviet Space: the Face of the Epoch, will be held as part of the forum. An award ceremony for the winners of the FEAM 2012 Best Media Project competition will take place as well. The major objective of the competition is to encourage information and analytical media projects on the basis of new and traditional technologies dedicated to the economic and political integration.

The first Forum of CIS and Baltic Mass Media was held on the initiative of RIA Novosti in Moscow in December 2006. In 2009 it acquired its present name - the Forum of European and Asian Media. The two previous forums were held in Kyiv and Astana in 2010 and 2011 respectively. The previous forum made its mark in the history establishing the Club of Heads of the CIS, Baltic and Georgia Media and giving a start to the FEAM 2012 Best Media Project competition.
