KAZINFORM Belarus is interested in expanding cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said when speaking before the faculty and students of the Tajik Technical University on 29 October.

"Belarus is watching with interest the activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. We are interested in cooperation with the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation of which Tajikistan is a full member," Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to BelTA, with regard to Belarus' relations with various countries and regions, the Belarusian head of state noted that there are very positive trends in foreign relations with the countries of Asia and Africa. The sides intend to implement a number of ambitious projects in industrial cooperation and agriculture. In particular, they include supplies of Belarusian agricultural equipment and passenger vehicles, and setting up joint assembling plants in Tajikistan. During the visit the sides agreed to start the production of Belarusian tractors and other equipment in the south of Tajikistan. Belarus is also ready to offer Tajikistan promising investment projects.

Apart from trade and industrial cooperation, Belarus and Tajikistan have a great potential in expanding relations in science, culture, education and other sectors.
