Belarus interested in mutual recognition of medications registration in Customs Union

The recognition of certificates for medications is a major problem that slows down the production of medications. Among other things the matter will be discussed at the meeting of the heads of government of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus in Astana on 25 September, Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
"For now national regulations are in effect, which to a certain extent slows down the inflow of foreign investments," he said. "For instance, we work rather actively with China, India, and Bangladesh, with companies from other countries, which are ready to come to Belarus. But they look at the capacity of our market". If Belarus uncorks the capacity of the Customs Union market, the appeal for investors will rise, added the Prime Minister.
As the Prime Minister visited the manufacturing site of RUP Belmedpreparaty in the town of Skidel (formerly the Grodno medications factory), he was informed about intentions of an Indian company to use the facility to start the joint production of anti-tumor medications. A foreign investor is assisting with the construction of a factory to make antibiotics in the town of Lida, other projects are being implemented, BelTA reports.
The Prime Minister said that by the end of the five-year term Belarusian medication manufacturers have to satisfy 50% of the home market demand with their products. Instructions were given to step up the production of medications, not only generic ones but original and expensive ones, which can be used rather effectively in Belarus or can be exported.
