Belarus, Kazakhstan expected to abolish trucking permits in 2013

During the visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Kazakhstan the sides reached an agreement to abolish the system of permits for automobile transportation. At present Belarus and Russia practice permits for transporting cargoes to and from third countries. As far as Kazakhstan is concerned, there is a system of permits for transporting cargoes to and from third countries as well as permits for bilateral cargo transportation. It means that there is a certain limit on the permits. The fact slows down the development of the transport industry and capabilities of Kazakh receivers, the official said.
Anton Kudasov informed that a relevant intergovernmental agreement would be worked out soon. "We hope that the agreement will be signed by Belarus and Kazakhstan as early as next year. If Russia accedes to the agreement, it will allow creating a genuine common transport space as a key element of the common economic space," he stressed, BelTA reports.
The Deputy Economy Minister also said that during the visit the sides discussed a project for an industrial and logistic park of agricultural and municipal machines and vehicles. "The project represents quality development of Belarus-Kazakhstan cooperation. It goes beyond the export of Belarus-made machines or their assembly in Kazakhstan. The project envisages large-scale research and design, educational, and technological cooperation. This scheme of relations is possible with other partner states, too," remarked Anton Kudasov.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Mr Sergei Aleinik said that the visit of Prime Minister of Belarus Mr Mikhail Myasnikovich to Kazakhstan had resulted in the signing of nine international treaties, including three intergovernmental ones and six interagency ones. Commercial contracts have been signed for the delivery of Belarus-made mining machines worth $11.6 million. An agreement has been reached to set up four joint ventures in Kazakhstan. Those are a Belarusian-Kazakh industrial and technological park, joint ventures involving the automobile engineering company BelAZ, Minsk Tractor Works, and the footwear manufacturer Belwest. There are plans to set up a joint venture to make terephthalic acid out of Kazakh paraxylene in Belarus.
