Belarus ready to share innovative technologies with CIS

MOSCOW. March 19. KAZINFORM Belarus is ready to share its advanced innovative technologies in the area of agribusiness, food industry, agricultural mechanical engineering, laser technologies, the development of transport infrastructure, civil engineering and other areas with CIS states. The information was released by Igor Voitov, Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of Belarus, Chairman of the International Council for Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. In turn, Igor Voitov said that Belarus is ready to work hard to invite partners from the CIS states in order to implement investment projects. In particular, he encouraged representatives of the CIS states to take part in setting up holding companies in the Belarusian metallurgy industry, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, and other industries.

Igor Voitov said that the first state innovation development program had been implemented in Belarus. It covered two thirds of Belarus' industrial enterprises. Another program has been approved to be implemented in 2011-2015. Its main goal is to raise the competitive ability, energy effectiveness and ecological safety. There are plans to spend around $30 billion on the program, with returns expected to exceed the spending by 300%. According to Igor Voitov, the share of innovative products is supposed to be at least 20% in Belarus by 2015; Kazinform cites BelTA.
