Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan to sign Eurasian Economic Union Treaty in May 2014
"We have agreed that we will sign the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. The Union will become operational on 1 January 2015. To this end, in May 2014 we need to see the draft document and sign it, so that our parliaments will have half a year to ratify it," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, the participants of the session had a serious discussion about their obligations, as well as about removal of existing exemptions and restrictions. Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that each member of an integration project seeks to have equal relations and mutual benefits.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the agreements adopted within the framework of the SES must be implemented. Addressing the reporters he said: "You have heard about the issues related to oil and oil products, gas pipelines and oil pipelines. Of course, Russia is the biggest country of us all and it will have the biggest losses. However, we are working on it together," he said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed to the barriers for the free movement of goods: "Phytosanitary measures, laboratory tests under any pretexts". "We have ordered to come to grips with it," the Kazakhstani head of state said, BelTA reports.
"We are very cautious about new members. A working group has been set up for Kyrgyzstan and Armenia and a roadmap of their accession will be developed," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
