Belarus' status at SCO discussed at Minsk consultations

MINSK. KAZINFORM - The prospects to enhance Belarus' status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) were discussed at the Belarusian-Russian ministerial consultations in Minsk on 29 July, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

"Special attention at the consultations was drawn to different areas of the Belarusian-Russian partnership in cooperation with the countries of the region. The parties discussed the main cooperation aspects in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, prospects for the organization's development and the ways to enhance Belarus' status in SCO," the Foreign Ministry said.

The parties talked over the current state and prospects of cooperation with the countries of North-East Asia, including China, Japan and South Korea. The consultations were chaired by Head of the Office for Asia, Australia and Oceania of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Grinkevich, Ambassador-at-Large of the Foreign Ministry of Russia Grigory Logvinov and the authorities of the First Asia Department of the Foreign Ministry of Russia, BelTA reports.
