ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Astana has held the first meeting of the Kazakh-Belarusian working group on cooperation in the space sector, the press service of Kazkosmos informs.

According to Deputy Chairman of Kazakhstan's Aerospace Committee Yerkin Shaimagambetov, the working group was created by the decision of the eleventh session of the Kazakh-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in September 2014. The Belarusian delegation headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Kazakhstan Anatoly Nichkasov consisted of I. Strashko - Deputy Director of "Geographic Information System" unitary enterprise , Y. Yatsyna - head of research and production center "BAC and technology" under Physics and technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Alexander Belotserkovskiy - head of intelligent information systems department of "Joint Institute of Informatics Problems" State Scientific Institution under the NAS of Belarus. During the meeting the parties have discussed the issues of mutual cooperation in the space sector. The guests visited the National Space Centre, where acting President of JSC "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary NC" Marat Nurguzhin briefed them on the ground-based remote sensing system of the Earth and the center of high-precision satellite navigation. It should be noted that the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus plan to sign a draft agreement between on cooperation in exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes. The parties plan to ink the document in the 2nd half of 2015. The next meeting of the working group will be held in QII 2015 in the city of Minsk.
