MINSK. May 14. KAZINFORM The Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) and Kazakh News Agency (KAZINFORM) signed an agreement on information exchange. The document signed by BelTA Director General Dmitry Zhuk and Chairman of KAZINFORM Dauren Diyarov is aimed at expanding the information-analytical capacity and establishing a regular exchange of information on developments in the two countries.

Dauren Diyarov stressed that KAZINFORM and BelTA have been working closely together for many years and the signing of the agreement on the information exchange is a formality. "Belarus and Kazakhstan are interested in development of relations not only in mass media but also in other areas, which is attested by the visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Belarus. For Kazakhstan Belarus is the gateway to Europe," Dauren Diyarov said. He also expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two news agencies will become even closer, BelTA reports.
For his part, Dmitry Zhuk said that the emphasis in cooperation will be put on the exchange of economic information. "I believe that owing to the economic news by BelTA Kazakhstani business will discover new niches and opportunities in the Belarusian economy offered by the Customs Union. I hope that thanks to the information by our agency the Belarusian border and customs infrastructure will become more understandable to Kazakhstani people while implementation of the agreements reached today at the highest level will be faster and more efficient," Dmitry Zhuk said.

The agreement gives the news agencies an opportunity to share credible information on the current developments both in the two countries and on the international arena in Russian and English on a regular basis. The news agencies have a right to distribute materials by any means on their territories with a reference to the source.

BelTA and KAZINFORM intend to cooperate in providing media coverage of the visits of the heads of state, official delegations, and other interstate events held on the territory of Belarus or Kazakhstan. The two countries will exchange journalists, news photographers and other media specialists for adoption of best practices and enhancement of qualifications. The news agencies will provide organizing and technical assistance to accredited reporters and news photographers.
