Berlin holds opening of Year of Kazakhstan in Germany: Minister of Culture and Information

ASTANA. January 23. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has attended a Collegium of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information in the Presidential Centre of Culture; Kazinform reports.

Minister of Culture and Information Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed made a main report. The Minister noted that the year 2008 was intensive and effective for the cultural-information sphere of the country. A number of reforms, which are very significant for further development of the branch, were carried out. According to the Strategic Plan of the Ministry for 2009-2010, which was elaborated in the framework of transfer to the system of budget planning, four key directions of development of the cultural-information sphere were defined. M.Kul-Mukhammed said that a wage was increased two times from January, 2009 in a number of cultural organizations. The Minister noted that five draft laws were elaborated in order to improve the legislative framework of the cultural-information space. Al-Farabi ethno cultural center and mausoleum are under construction, mausoleum of Sultan al-Zahir Baibars in Damascus and his mosque in Cairo are under restoration. A modernization plan of the national company ?Kazakhfilm? was elaborated. M.Kul-Mukhammed said that the Head of the State will attend an opening of ?The Year of Kazakhstan in Germany? in Berlin on February 3, 2009.
