Bill on amendments to Kazakhstan?s Law ?On elections? considered
ASTANA. January 12. KAZINFORM. The Senate?s Committee on Legislation and Legal Issues has discussed a draft law ?On amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ?On elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan? today; Kazinform refers to the House?s press service.
The draft law is aimed at improvement of electoral legislation. It provides introduction of a legal mechanism excluding the possibility of formation of a single-party Majilis of the Parliament.
One of its norms guarantees the formation of Majilis with the participation of not less than two political parties independently from the results of elections and implements the recommendation of OSCE/ODIHR.
In order to provide equal conditions for all candidates in coverage of election campaigns, there is introduced an obligation for mass media to spread information about all candidates and party lists, their registration by the election commissions in equal volumes of printed material and broadcasting time.
The individuals involved in corruption crimes or administrative violations, the fault of which is confirmed by the court are forbidden to take part in the election process.
