Biosphere reservation to be created at the Kazakh-Russain frontier

ASTANA. July 10. KAZINFORM "A trans-border biosphere reservation will be created at the Kazakh-Russian frontier," Minister of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan Nurlan Kapparov informed during a round table "Actual problems of transboundary basin of the Ural River and possible solutions" on Wednesday.

Accoding to the Minister of Environmental Protection, the Katon-Karagaisky National Park will enter the reservation zone.

"Currently, a work on creation of the trans-border biosphere reservation at the frontier of Kazakhstan and Russia is being done. An intergovernmental agreement on Altai trans-border specially protected area on the basis of the Katon-Karagai National Park and Katon Russian reservation, was reached in Astrakhan in 2011. Currently, Kazakhstan initiates the inclusion of the Katon Karagai National Park into the list of the UNESCO biosphere reservations. Then the process on making of trans-border biosphere reservation is expected to be launched," Nurlan Kapparov made clear.
