BISHKEK. September 11. KAZINFORM — On September 12-13, 2013 SCO summit will be held in Bishkek with the participation of the six member-states.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, his colleagues from China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will take part in the Bishkek summit. The event will be attended by the Presidents of eight countries, including the leaders of the observer states - Mongolia, Iran and Afghanistan. In addition, India and Pakistan will feature high-level guests, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Summit will be also visited by the two Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Secretary-General of the SCO Dmitriy Mezentsev, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha, EurAsEC Secretary General Tair Mansurov as well as special representatives of the UN, reps of the CIS Executive Committee and other international organizations.

Among the main topics will be issues of trade and economic as well as the geopolitical situation in the region and throughout the world. The situation in Afghanistan remains the most pressing problem for all SCO member states. The year 2014 will become a serious watershed in the regional situation. The withdrawal of the main part of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and the rearrangement of the remained contingent in Afghanistan after 2014 may trigger a serious rise in the terrorist threat not only to Afghanistan but also to its neighboring countries. Majot target nowadays is the problem of effective joint action against global threats and challenges and particular concern about the situation in Middle East (civil war in Syria and the problem of nuclear research in Iran).
