Biting frost to -25°C forecast in Kazakhstan
Kazhydromet, the national weather service of Kazakhstan, has issued a three-day weather report for January 7-9, Kazinform News Agency reports.
On January 7, most parts of Kazakhstan will stay under the impact of the South-Caspian cyclone with large reserves of moisture, due to which northwestern, northern, eastern and central areas will see snowfall, blizzard, sometimes heavy snowfall.
Southwestern, southern and southeastern regions will see rain and snow, while mountainous districts of Turkistan region will brace for heavy precipitation (rain and snow).
On the night of January 8, the Western anticyclone is expected to bring in cold air masses, which will sharply decrease the temperatures to -15-25 °C in northern parts of the country, to -5-15°C in southern areas, and to -20-25°C in the mountainous districts of Almaty and Zhetysu regions.
On January 9, in the afternoon, the mercury will rise again: in the northern parts of the country the temperatures will be at 0-5°C, and in the southern parts the temperatures will rise to 0+5°C.
Strong gusts of wind, foggy and icy road conditions are forecast countrywide.
