Bottega Veneta to celebrate The Knot design in pop-up exhibition
Fêted with an exclusive cocktail this Friday night, Bottega Veneta's two-level Saint Tropez boutique will be transformed into a museum with more than 300 different models of 'The Knot' on display to the public from August 1 to 3 as part of a retrospective look at the history of the accessory, Relaxnews reports.
First created by Tomas Maier in 2001, the clutch is one of the brand's signature pieces, "a collector's item" with an "iconic shape", according to the German designer.
Maier certainly stretches his wings when it comes to the imaginative versions he dreams up each year including the Vintage Jewel Knot (embroidered with antique crystals), the Origami Knot (made from intricately creased patent leather) and other versions in woven sterling silver, padded satin, and soft crocodile. "It is a continuous opportunity for a special kind of creative exploration," he explains.
The events and displays at the Saint Tropez store will be digitally shared with select Bottega Veneta boutiques around the world. This September will also see the launch of the brand's latest fragrance for women, also named 'The Knot' in honor of the bags.
