Brad Pitt and George Clooney on life after 60 years

Brad Pitt and George Clooney share their thoughts on aging, friendship and careers, and how they perceive life after 60, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports, citing GQ.

Brad Pitt is now 60 years old, and George Clooney is 63. For them, age has become an important stage in understanding life.

George Clooney told how his perception of life has changed after turning 60. Recalling the moment of his 60th birthday, he shared that although he is still in good physical shape and can play basketball with friends, he understands the inevitability of aging.

“…it doesn’t matter how many granola bars I eat. In 20 years, I’m 80. And that’s a different number.” That’s a real number where your bones are brittle and your muscle mass is gone... So these next 20 years we have to really focus not just on work, although you’ve got to continue to work. We also have to focus on life,” says Clooney.

Brad Pitt agreed, adding that as you get older, you become more aware of your mortality and realize that it affects everyone.

He notes that he is trying to reduce the number of projects he works on. He used to do one film a year, but now he does only one in year and a half. Pitt explains that he wants to spend more time with the people he loves and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

“I don’t know how to not sound cheesy about it, but just the air is fresh and grass is green and I’ve just kind of become that guy a little bit”, says Pitt.

George Clooney then shared his thoughts on his career and admitted with surprise that he did not expect his career to last so long.

“I remember I talked to Damon about this 25 years ago, when he first hit with his movie and won the Oscar. I was like, “Just know that if you get a 10-year career, playing at that level, it’s an absolute jackpot.” Nobody sustains it much longer than that. So yeah, I’m surprised that I still have the work”, notes Clooney.

Pitt and Clooney are not only colleagues, but also long-time friends. Their friendship began more than two decades ago and continues to grow stronger with each passing year.

“We’ve been friends for a long time. And it’s fun because we also check in on each other every once in a while, which is an important part of this. Things get complicated in life and you always have to make sure everybody’s okay,” notes Clooney.

Pitt adds that he often turns to Clooney for advice, knowing that George is always willing to help.

"I know he's always got my back, and I'm always got his," says Pitt.
