Branch of University of Lorraine, Kazakh-French schools to be opened in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan seeks to foster relations with universities and research centers of France, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Akorda reports.

The Kazakh President spoke about expansion of contacts between the leading universities in the field of science and technology.

This year, a branch of the University of Lorraine is set to be opened at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. Currently, the sides are considering the establishment of the Kazakhstan-France University Center Lumiere. Kazakh-French schools are set to be built in Astana and Almaty. Today, the related documents were signed. The schools will undoubtedly offer the youth access to the highest standards of education. Kazakhstan is ready to strengthen relations with universities and research center of France, stated the Kazakh leader.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Emmanuel Macron also exchanged views on the current issues of regional and global agenda.

We find it necessary to address all problems in a peaceful and diplomatic way. We agreed to join efforts at the international level and work jointly. The One Water Summit will soon be held. We discussed the preparations for this Summit, which is the joint initiative of both countries. It is set to be a crucial dialogue platform, which will provide impetus to step up cooperation concerning climate change and green economy. Today’s talks ended up to be productive. This visit attests to the fact that the ties between Kazakhstan and France are now strategic. I hope that through our joint efforts the mutually beneficial cooperation will reach a qualitatively new level, said the Head of State.

Earlier it was reported that the Kazakh and French Presidents held talks in an extended format.

The President of Kazakhstan arrived in France for a state visit on November 4.
