Briefing on Kazakh President?s Address held in Tashkent

Representatives of mass media of Uzbekistan and local Kazakh-language press took part in the event; Kazinform has learnt from the embassy?s press service. The journalists were informed of the main provisions of the Message. It was said that Kazakhstan was among the first countries which have been prompt to respond the world economic crisis. The discussion was focused on the government measures to preserve financial stability, support housing construction and promote small and medium businesses, and Kazakh Government's steps on elimination of administrative barriers and cutting down basic tax rates. More than KZT 2.7 trillion were budgeted as antirecessionary measures in Kazakhstan. The Government also assures of fulfilling its commitment to increase social reliefs and salaries of public employees. In the nearest future Kazakhstan plans to carry out a plan on economic modernization which envisages upgrading of basic infrastructure, financing of promissing investment projects and implementation of the employment strategy. The plan will ensure efficient economic development in post-crisis period. The article by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev ?Keys to Crisis? about the ways to overcome the global crisis, and his proposal to create a unified world currency also received special attention at the briefing. The journalists were also presented ?Path to Europe? Government Program for 2009-2011 published in Uzbek, Kazakh and Russian languages. It was emphasized that the program was timed to Kazakhstan?s chairmanship of the OSCE in 2010, and would stimulate Kazakhstan?s cooperation with European countries in economy, trade, transport, and other spheres.
