By 2030 Kazakhstan will reach EU on natural resources use effectiveness - Environment Protection Ministry

ASTANA. June 28. KAZINFORM - By 2030 Kazakhstan is largely equal on average performance efficiency of natural capital with the countries of the European Union.

This has been stated by the Minister of Environmental Protection Mr. Kapparov in his speech at today's regional conference in Astana titled "Covenant of Mayors - the path to sustainable energy development at local, national and regional levels."

"Economic modernization is based on several principles, such as efficient use of natural resources. We have to educate new staff needed to build a new economy. For example, in 2030 we will restore water and land resources of the country and in many ways will catch up on average performance efficiency of natural capital with the countries of the European Union. Already in 2030 we have to transfer the standards on emissions to the level of European countries and to take steps to implement them, " said Kapparov.

"According to estimates, the economic return from the 'green modernization' will be positive. In 2030, we will create from 400 to 600 000 new jobs in the "green field". By 2050 we get an additional 3 percent of GDP due to the "green economy", which is in addition to the usual economic model of development " the minister added.
