PAVLODAR. March 2. KAZINFORM /Vera Livintsova/ Canadian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Stephen Millar has arrived today in Pavlodar within his two-day trip.

The issues of economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting with Governor of Pavlodar region Bakhytzhan Sagintayev.

"I have been working in Kazakhstan for one and a half year and this is my first time visit to Pavlodar and the region. The purpose of the visit is to get familiarized with the region, to learn more about opportunities for cooperation between the countries and regions. Pavlodar region and other northern regions of Kazakhstan are very similar in terms of geography to western provinces of Canada. Thus, there are opportunities for cooperation in the sphere of agriculture," S. Millar told Kazinform.

"I believe we can bring closer the positions of our businessmen. After this trip we will inform our companies about possible economic cooperation in Pavlodar region".

"Today I give lectures at the university on 'Multiculturalism in Canada'. I think we have a lot of common in history of tolerance, relations between ethnic groups. Thus, there are plans on cultural cooperation," the Ambassador replied to the question about cultural cooperation.

S. Millar has visited the Pavlodar State University named after S. Toraigyrov and gave lectures to students and teachers of the university today.

Tomorrow Mr Millar will meet with representatives of Pavlodar non-governmental organizations.
