Cargo turnover along TITR surges by 63% in 11M2024 - ministry
From January to November 2024, cargo turnover along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route increased by 63% having reached 4.1 million tons. Container transportations augmented by 2.6 times reaching 50,500 TEUs, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Kazakh Ministry of Transport.
The capacity of the TITR rose to 6 million tons per annum, including 100 thousand TEUs of container transportations, the ministry says.
The ministry also reminds of the launch of the TITR Coordination Center, whose goal is to develop infrastructure and to expand the route’s functions. The new platform will focus on improving the TITR’s competitiveness, which will allow to reduce delivery times between Europe and Asia to 15 days. Key countries and companies, such as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, China and many others, are actively involved in the project.
Special attention is given to the modernization of infrastructure, which will enable to boost the international route’s throughput capacity and improve the quality of service.
