CEC announced results of presidential candidates' registration

ASTANA. March 3. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ The Central Election Commission held a meeting on results of registration of the presidential candidates on March 2 at midnight.

The decision to refuse registration of Salim Oten, Guldana Tokbayeva, Zhaksybay Bazilbayev and Serik Sapargaliyev as candidates for presidency was made.

Representative of the long-term mission of the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Alexei Gromov was in attendance to observe the meeting.

Secretary of the Central Election Commission Bakhyt Meldeshov said that almost all of them were rejected to register due to failure to provide all necessary documents.

'The people mentioned above did not work on collecting signatures. We almost did not have reports from the regions proving their work in this direction.' B. Meldeshev said.

Thus, there are only 4 registered presidential candidates to participate in the elections. These are Nursultan Nazarbayev, Mels Yeleussizov, Gani Kassymov and Zhambyl Akhmetbekov.
