Census preliminary results to be declared March 18

ASTANA. March 6. KAZINFORM. /Kurmat Samarkhan/ According to the preliminary data as of March 5, 2009, 15 million 555 thousand people that is 99% of Kazakhstan population have already been enumerated within the National Census. Press Secretary of the Statistics Agency Dinara Zhandayeva has informed about it at a briefing today.

According to D. Zhandayeva, out of 16 regions 7 recorded more people than the estimated population. They are Almaty, Atyrau, Zhambyl, South Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Mangystau and Karaganda regions. In Astana the census has already covered 574 629 people, in Almaty ? 1 297 714 people. Some regions start control enumeration. Preliminary data on the census will be published on March 18, 2009.
