Chess: Who will take part in the world championships to be held in Samarkand?
As previously reported, the World Rapid and Blitz Championships will be held in December this year in the ancient and eternally young city of Samarkand, UzA reports.
To date, the current world champion in blitz and rapid chess Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Gukesh Dommaraju (India), Vincent Keimer (Germany), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland), Yu Yangyi (China), Levon Aronian (United States), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Daniil Dubov (FIDE), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (Uzbekistan) have expressed their desire to take part in the men’s competition.
The protocol for participation in the Women’s Championships was completed by: Ju Wenjun (China), Tan Junyi (China), Bibisara Assaubayeva (Kazakhstan), Aleksandra Goryachkina (FIDE), Kateryna Lagno (FIDE), Humpy Koneru (India), Harika Dronavalli (India), Alexandra Kosteniuk (Switzerland).
The competition will be held on December 25-31 this year. According to the program, the opening of the championships will take place on December 25. Rapid chess competitions will be organized on December 26-28, blitz matches and the closing of the championships will be held on December 29-30.
The International Chess Federation announced that December 11 is the last day to register competition participants.
