China halts entry of Kazakh cargo due to bad weather

 The People’s Republic of China has halted the entry of Kazakhstani cargo by rail due to unfavorable weather conditions, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakhstan Temir Joly JSC.

According to the company’s press service, cargo traffic from Kazakhstan to China has slowed down at the Dostyk and Alashankou stations due to bad weather conditions.

China halted the entry of grain cars, covered cars with grain cargo and milled products, cisterns with vegetable oil. The work of terminals at the Alashankou station was suspended.

Cargo and container trains are on standby. Train interexchange was fully halted at night on December 12-13, and was at 3 trains per day, reducing by 5times from 15 per day, next day, reads the company’s statement.

Also, the Kazakhstan Temir Joly introduced a ban on the entry of container cargo, train cars, covered grain cargo and cisterns with vegetable oil through the Dostyk border crossing before December 25.

On December 12, the company held an emergency meeting with China’s railway officials on resumption of the entry of cargo.
