Сhina's Consulate General has been inaugurated today in Aktobe. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao participated in the opening ceremony, Kazinform News Agency reports.

At a meeting with Askhat Shakharov, Governor of the region, the sides noted stable development of the two countries' trade-economic cooperation, with more than 70 Kazakh-Chinese joint companies successfully operating in the region.

Trade turnover between Aktobe region and China reached $472.7 million in January-May 2024, having exceeded the last year's indicator of $402.2 million.

Exports to China hit $401.6 million, compared to the last year’s $325.8 million.

Askhat Shakharov invited China’s companies to expand their participation in joint projects.

Taking the floor at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Zhang Xiao said that this day would enter the chronicles of the Chinese-Kazakh relations.

He expressed confidence that the opening of China’s Consulate General will contribute to the promotion of trade and tourism between the two countries.

The Chinese diplomat reminded that year 2025 was declared the year of Chinese Tourism in Kazakhstan, which will let boost investment and tourist inflow.

“Last year, commodity turnover between the two countries made $41 billion. In the first half of the current year, it increased by another 17%. The Consulate General in Aktobe is expected to boost this work, strengthen the interregional relations and enhance business and cultural-humanitarian ties,” said Zhang Xiao.

Askhat Shakharov emphasized the importance of the event.

“Our countries are strategic partners which have built strong friendly relations. This is proved by the meeting of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. We view today’s event as a continuation of the agreements reached at this meeting. This will positively impact business, trade-economic relations and tourism development. We believe that our ties will strengthen year by year,” Askhat Shakharov said.
