Chinese companies express readiness to resume export of grains from Kazakhstan
Such an agreement was reached during a meeting of Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Chairman of China Grain Reserves Group Ltd. Deng Yiwu on October 18, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
The Chinese delegation, which included the representatives of China Grain Reserves Group Ltd. Company, CITIC Construction, Chinese State-owned Enterprises, China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation arrived in Kazakhstan to get familiarized with the potential of the country.
During the meeting, the issues of deliveries and trade in grains and oilseed between Kazakhstan and China were under discussion.
As a result of the state support measures, which allowed agrarians to observe all the agricultural technologies and thanks to the favorable weather conditions, our country collected a high grain harvest. Almost 26 million tons of good quality grains were threshed. There are plans to collect three million tons of oil crops. As part of the instruction of the Head of State to boost the volume of grain export to China to up to 2 million tons, the concrete measures are taken. Your market is of great interest for us and we’re ready to increase the annual volume of supplies to up to 3-4 million tons, said the Kazakh minister.
For his part, Deng Yiwu expressed the interest in supplies of oilseed and soybeans.
Annually, our country imports 100 million tons of grains and oil crops. We intend to cooperate with you and reach an agreement on supplies. There is a number of problems related to logistics and we’re ready to address them jointly, he said.
The sides agreed in advance to deliver the first batch of 100 thousand tons of grains and the same amount of oilseeds. Procorporation (Kazakhstan’s Food Contract Corporation) is responsible for the consolidation of the batch.
Also, on October 15, Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov held talks with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev to discuss increasing the volume of crop production export. Following the meeting, the agreement was reached to export Kazakhstani grains to Kyrgyzstan.
