Chinese company to build wheat processing plant in Akmola rgn

China’s Fufeng Group is to invest 650 million US dollars in construction of a plant for deep-processing of wheat in Akmola region, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

Today, an agreement with China’s major company Fufeng Group on construction of a wheat processing plant in Akmola region will be signed, said Gabidulla Osspankulov, chairman of the Investment Committee of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, at the the 7th Kazakhstan Global Investment Roundtable. 

Osspankulov also expressed hope that the plant is to be built in two-three years.

According to Akmola region’s governor Marat Akhmetzhanov, the agreement provides for attraction of 650 million US dollars in investment and creation of 1,000 jobs. The plant is set to be built in Arshalynskiy district.

The industrial zone is being established in this district. The investors visited four-five regions and chose Arshalynskiy district, due to its sufficient water, electricity and gas supplies. At the initial stage, the plant is set to process 1 million tons of wheat, contributing to economic growth and better conditions in the region, said Akhmetzhanov.

Earlier it was reported that France's Alstom is to unveil a locomotive maintenance center in the Kazakh town of Shu.
