Chinese investors proposed to build a plant on methane liquefaction in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Chinese investors proposed to build a plant on methane liquefaction, Director General of "KAZENERGY" Association Asset Magaurov informed at the CCS media briefing.

According to him, gas has mostly been associated in Kazakhstan, and thus it not enough attention was paid to this issue. Besides, gas consumption was limited because of the transport opportunities.

"However, technologies are still developing. Before, the technologies on methane liquefaction were applied for sea transportation only. Now, we see that there are opportunities and technologies to build mini-plants in Kazakhstan and ensure gas transportation to remote localities. We have already received offers from Chinese investors to build a plant on methane liquefaction. The technical and economic details are now being elaborated," he told.

According to "KAZENERGY", gas is becoming more and more popular in terms of consumption than oil and coal in the world. In the nearest future, gas is supposed to take the second place in terms of consumption.
