Chinese, Kazakh FMs meet on advancing ties

BEIJING. May 11. KAZINFORM Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his Kazakhstan counterpart Yerzhan Kazykhanov met here Friday morning as the two sides voiced readiness to advance bilateral ties to a new level.

 The Chinese and Kazakhstan foreign ministers met at the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization held in Beijing.

Yang said China-Kazakhstan relations have developed in great leaps since the two countries established diplomatic relations 20 years ago. He said the two sides had developed a cooperative strategy for the 21st century, formed a comprehensive strategic partnership and carried out a series of large-scale projects in various areas, Xinhua reports.

China-Kazakhstan cooperation has not only brought about concrete benefits to the two countries, but also promoted peace, stability and development of the region, according to Yang.

The Chinese foreign minister added China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries so as to advance bilateral links to a new stage.

Kazykhanov said the joint efforts of both sides have brought about all-round development in the bilateral links in recent years as leaders have kept frequent contact. Kazakhstan is ready to strengthen cooperation with China for greater achievements, he promised.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.

China and Kazakhstan established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2011. Two-way trade reached 25 billion U.S. dollars last year. Both are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which groups China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
