Chinese mainland donates 1,000 prefabricated houses to Taiwan

BEIJING. August 17. KAZINFORM The government of Shenzhen city in southern China Sunday decided to donate 1,000 prefabricated houses, which will arrive to Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, Monday; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

Meanwhile, mainland Red Cross organizations, leagues of banks, Buddhist associations and large companies have allocated thousands of millions of yuan to help relieve the disaster, official said.

Member companies of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) donated more than 100 million yuan (14.6 million U.S. dollars) and 5 million HK dollars (645,000 U.S. dollars).

The mainland's Red Cross Society offered 15 million yuan (2.2 million U.S. dollars) to the island's Red Cross organization, and the mainland's Buddhist Association allocated 5 million yuan (732,000 U.S. dollars); Kazinform cites Xinhua.
