CIS command-post air defense exercise due in Moscow next week

"Some 100 fighter planes, bombers, assault planes and planes of long-range aviation, as well as helicopters will be used in the exercise. Units of anti-aircraft rocket forces and radio troops will participate in the exercise," Zolotukhin said. "The use of A-50 radar surveillance and guidance aircraft will be a special feature of the exercise," he noted.
The sides will drill actions with the use of air defense to check violations of the airspace of CIS countries and to come to the rescue of planes in distress, Zolotukhin noted. "Combat-readiness of air defense units on duty will be checked by means of aerial control targets," he added, Itar-Tass reports.
Taking part in the exercise will be air defense and air force units of eight CIS countries - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. The training will be held in Moscow on November 28.
