CIS countries agree on joint projects to mitigate impact of climate change

A joint communique following the ministerial conference of the CIS counties on food security cooperation held in the Kazakh capital of Astana has been adopted, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports.

The participants of the event expressed their intention to promote cooperation in the area of research and development, exchange advanced experiences and promote innovations contributing to the sustainable agricultural production.

It was also agreed to promote environmentally sustainable technologies and agricultural practices, develop joint projects and programs to mitigate the impact of climate change and ensure the sustainability of food systems, and many more.

In addition, the conference’s participants welcomed Kazakhstan’s proposal to set up a situation room on food security under the Intergovernmental Council on the CIS agro-industrial complex. They also got familiarized with the state-of-the-art agricultural machinery, equipment of the leading world agricultural concerns, innovation technologies and programs aimed at developing agriculture at the KazAgro/KazFarm-2023 exhibition.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan’s exports of agro-industrial products to the CIS hit 3 billion US dollars.
