CIS foreign ministers sign several agreements in Bishkek
On Thursday, October 12, Bishkek hosted a meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev chaired the meeting, Kazinform Agency reports.
During the meeting, the heads of delegations exchanged views on the topical issues of the international agenda and discussed the state and prospects of the political, trade and economic, and cultural-humanitarian interaction within the CIS.
Addressing his colleagues, Jeenbek Kulubaev said that preservation of trust-based political relations with a focus on further integration had become one of the key achievements of the CIS.
Being the CIS presiding country, Kyrgyzstan directs its efforts towards enhancing the multilateral cooperation of the member states . The meeting also discussed the cultural-humanitarian cooperation. Special attention was given to the preparation for the celebration of then 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The sides also considered the issues of interregional cooperation, security, fight with the international terrorism and organized crime.
The participants approved a number of documents including the Agreement on establishment of an international center for assessing the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing, the Agreement on establishment of the CIS coordination council in forensic expert activity, the 2024-2028 interstate program of joint measures of combat with crime for further submission to the heads of state for signing.
The foreign ministers also approved the Agreement on establishment of the International Russian Language Organization.
The next meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council will be held in Minsk on April 12, 2024.
