CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council to convene in Yalta on 23 November

MINSK. November 22. KAZINFORM A session of the CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council will be held in Yalta on 23 November, BelTA learnt from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The draft agenda of the session features over 15 points. The parties will discuss draft cooperation agreements on medical insurance for migrant workers and their family members, supplies of medicines, healthcare products and medical equipment manufactured in the CIS member states, as well as a draft concept of coordinated efforts to combat cancer.

The healthcare officials will discuss amendments to the cooperation agreement in sanitary protection, delivery of healthcare services to citizens of the CIS member states, efforts to curb the spread of the HIV infection, BelTA informs.

The agenda also features discussion of a coordinated social and demographic policy in the CIS and rehabilitation of liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.

The CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council is one of the oldest cooperation bodies in the Commonwealth. It was founded in June 1992. The council comprises healthcare ministers and chief state medical officers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Azerbaijan and Moldova are active members of the council.

The council maintains relations with the World Health Organization, United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, the World Health Assembly, UNICEF and others.
