CIS observers' mission to send at least 400 observers to Kazakhstan

MINSK. March 3. KAZINFORM /Aituar Mamlin/ The CIS observers' mission will start its work in Kazakhstan on March 10, Kazinform has learnt from Advisor to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee Maria Gutsalo.

On March 10 the mission will open its headquarters in Astana, and the CIS long-term observers will start working. They will monitor the course of the election campaign - agitation, compilation and verification of the voters list and activity of the local election commissions. They will also have meetings at campaign headquarters of the presidential candidates.

Belarus, Turkmenistan and the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly have already confirmed their participation in the work of the mission. The CIS observers' mission plans to send at least 400 short-term and long-term observers to the Kazakhstan presidential elections.

On April 4, after the preliminary results of the elections are announced, the CIS observers' mission will make a statement on the results of observation of the elections.

Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee-Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev will head the CIS observers' mission.
