CIS Quality Awards to be presented in Minsk on 21 August

MINSK. August 20. KAZINFORM The CIS Quality Awards 2011 will be presented in the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 21 August, BelTA learnt from the information and analysis department of the CIS Executive Committee. 

The awards are bestowed once in two years for outstanding achievements in quality, product safety and innovative quality management solutions. This year the ceremony will be held for the third time. The awards will be presented by Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev. 

Laureates and diploma holders were determined by the jury back in December 2011. The final decision of the jury was held at a session of the CIS Economic Council in Saint Petersburg on 21 June 2012. 

Three Belarusian companies were voted laureates of the contest, including Belarusian Steel Works (industrial goods), Yubileiny Hotel Complex and International Business Alliance (services). 

Diploma holders include Vegas, Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, Molochny Mir (consumer goods), and Beltelecom (services). 

A special prize "Acknowledgement of Business Achievements" will be bestowed upon the private company Romgil (consumer goods). 

The terms of the CIS Quality Awards were approved by the Council of the CIS Heads of Government on 25 November 2005. 

The contest is aimed to support national initiatives and unite efforts of government agencies to improve quality and competitiveness of products and services produced by the CIS member states, to enhance export capacities and encourage quality.
